Your Application

Applications

All applications are managed through our candidate management system which requires all applicants to create an account, complete an application form and attach other supporting documents to their applications such as cover letter and CV.

All applications should be completed in full and submitted before the advertised closing date. Should SKAO have any initial questions surrounding your application you will be contacted by a member of the HR Team to ascertain the details and ensure all applicants have the information they need to consider their application further.

We operate a transparent and open approach to our recruitment process and will provide as much information as possible to applicants to help them in their decision making to apply for a role. This will include the location of a position, appropriate salary range and a list of mandatory and preferred skills and qualifications that we are seeking the successful applicant to have.

If you have any questions or experience any difficulty with the application process, or system issues, please contact the HR Team at jobs@skao.int.

Shortlisting

A panel review of all applications takes place typically a few days following the closing date of the vacancy. Our panels are made up of a diverse set of individuals from across the Observatory who have all attended the relevant recruitment training.

All our recruitment panels contain a Diversity Champion to ensure, where possible, we are achieving a diverse pool of applicants at all stages of the recruitment process. Thus, continuing with the Observatory's commitment to create a diverse and inclusive environment and our particular aim to become an employer of choice for women in STEM.

The panel will shortlist applicants for interview based on evidence provided in their application against the mandatory and preferred criteria for the role, as specified within the job advert. As such it is essential that applications are detailed and completed in full with particular attention given to addressing the criteria advertised.

All applicants will receive an update on their application throughout all stages of the recruitment process advising of the next steps as applicable.
